Evonik

Evonik Industries AG is a stock-listed German specialty chemicals company headquartered in Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

Evonik is one of the largest speciality chemicals firms in the world and the second-largest chemicals company in Germany. It was established on September 12, 2007, as a result of the restructuring of the mining and technology group RAG, and is mostly owned by the RAG Foundation.

RAG's commercial divisions for chemicals, energy, and real estate were merged into Evonik Industries, but mining operations were left in RAG's hands. The company's specialty chemicals division accounts for about 80% of sales in industries where it dominates the industry. About 37,000 people work at Evonik Industries, which has operations in more than 100 nations. The six business units that make up the operating activities are a part of the chemicals business area.
