Advantages

Advanced life-like multi-material and multicolor capabilities

The Stratasys® J5 Digital Anatomy™ uses specific materials and colors with consistent repeatability to simulate different organs and tissue types with life-like colors. It can produce intricate patterns and qualities that resemble porous bone structures, fibrotic tissues, extremely complicated vascular systems and ligaments among many other things, offering accurate feedback while performing procedures on them such as cutting, drilling, tapping, reaming, sawing, suturing, inserting screws, attaching plates, deploying guidewires and catheters, valves, grafts, closure devices and many more.

Produce parts with radiopaque capabilities

The J5 Digital Anatomy™ 3D Printer can produce anatomical models that can be viewed using medical imaging techniques including X-rays and CT scans. These models closely replicate the properties of genuine human tissues. The RadioMatrix™ material enables the creation of radio-realistic models with adjustable radiopacity features. This material allows users to print models with radiopacity values ranging from -30 to 1000 Hounsfield Units (HU).

By adjusting the HU values, users can get precise contrast levels that appropriately depict various anatomical regions. For example:

- Soft tissues often have HU values close to zero.

- Fat tissue exhibits negative HU values.

- Bone exhibits higher positive HU values.

- Air-filled areas have extremely low negative HU values.

Disease state simulation

The printer can generate models that properly depict a wide spectrum of disease disorders. This encompasses both common ailments and unusual disorders, allowing medical practitioners to obtain hands-on experience with conditions that they may not see frequently in their clinical practice. Users can design models depicting various stages of an illness, from early start to severe stages. This is especially useful for evaluating disease development and developing appropriate therapies at different stages. The printer can also model defects in many tissue types, such as soft tissues, bones, and vascular structures. It can, for example, generate models of organ cancers, bone abnormalities, and vascular malformations.

Fast

Stratasys®' J5 Digital Anatomy™ 3D Printer significantly improves efficiency and productivity, with print speeds 30% faster than previous models. It uses a radial coordinate system (rotational printing system) instead of a traditional cartesian system. This increased speed translates into lower development costs and more overall efficiency for medical modelling applications.

Compact

With its small footprint, the J5 Digital Anatomy™ Printer fits neatly into existing workspaces, making it a great solution for a variety of medical facilities. The printer has a large printing area of 1,174cm2 and can generate parts up to 140 x 200 x 190mm in size.

Multiple material channels

The printer has six independent material channels, which allows for a variety of material combinations in a single print job. This allows for the fabrication of sophisticated, multi-material models that correctly depict a variety of anatomical components.

It features a dual cartridge system. Each of the six channels can hold two 1.1 kilogram cartridges. The dual cartridge setup allows for longer print runs without interruption and supports hot switching, which means users may replace empty cartridges while the printer is still running.

Certified system

The Stratasys®' J5 Digital Anatomy™ 3D Printer has received 510k clearance for clinical diagnostic use when paired with leading segmentation software companies. The printer and its materials have obtained biocompatibility certification, meeting ISO 10993-1:2018 standards for limited contact with tissue and bone, as well as permanent contact with intact skin. Additionally, it complies with ISO 18562-1:2017 for breathing gas pathways in healthcare applications. The system supports various sterilization methods, including steam, gamma, and EtO for specific materials like MED610™ and MED615RGD™, while steam sterilization is approved for Biocompatible Digital ABS Plus and the Rigid Transparent family. Importantly, both the material and hardware manufacturing sites are ISO 13485 certified, ensuring high-quality standards in medical device production.

Powerful software with an extensive preset library

The Stratasys®' J5 Digital Anatomy™ 3D Printer works with GrabCAD Print™ Digital Anatomy™ Software for intuitive model creation and customization. It has over 300 approved anatomy presets, the printer offers users a wide range of ready-to-use options for making accurate anatomical models. These presets cover a wide range of human parts, organs, and tissues, making it possible to create models quickly and efficiently without requiring considerable manual adjustments.

Applications

For Medical Device Manufacturing

The J5 Digital Anatomy™ printer allows for the development of ultra-realistic anatomical models with accurate biomechanical qualities. This enables designers and engineers to evaluate medical devices and goods under conditions that closely resemble actual human anatomy. Using the same 3D-printed anatomical models in various tests allows researchers to avoid confounding variables caused by biological differences in cadavers or animal specimens.

Furthermore, the multi-material and multicolor anatomical models that may be created can be effective sales tools, allowing medical device companies to showcase their products in the setting of realistic anatomical structures. This visual and tactile representation is particularly useful for demonstrating how a device interacts with various disease states or anatomical features.

For Point-of Care

The J5 Digital Anatomy™ printer can generate highly realistic models tailored to specific patients, allowing surgeons to plan and perform complex surgeries in a safe setting. This capacity reduces surgical problems, operating room (OR) time, and hospital stays by allowing surgeons to practice their skills before performing actual surgeries on patients.

Anatomical models can also help physicians and patients communicate more effectively. Patients can better grasp their treatment options if the surgical technique and potential consequences are clearly demonstrated.

For Medical Education and Research

Medical students and professionals can take advantage of the J5 printer's capabilities to create interactive teaching aids and realistic training models. These tools aid in the development of surgical skills and a comprehension of complicated anatomical structures, especially for rare illnesses.
