Compared to conventional thermoplastics, short-fiber-reinforced filaments, here with a fiber volume content of up to 30%, offer better mechanical/thermal properties, with higher dimensional stability and excellent surface quality.
Continuous fiber tape (μAFP™)
The μAFP™ printhead lays fully dense tape, with up to 12,000 continuous fibers arranged in parallel and a fiber volume fraction of up to 60%.
The roller, with closed-loop thermal control, tempers and embeds the 3 mm wide tapes. The porosity is less than 1 % porosity.
