Desktop Metal® Fabricate software makes the workflow around metal 3D printing a breeze. With a host of automated features and an intuitive interface, Fabricate software is the ideal interface for the perfect metal part.

Automatic support generation

Using an extensive analysis of the component and its geometry, the Desktop Metal® Fabricate software creates support structures that prevent deformation and enable even shrinkage. These support structures are also automatically created with intelligent functions, such as a “seam” through the support structure for difficult-to-access structures.

Ceramic-coating generation

To simplify the removal of support structures after the sintering process, Desktop Metal®'s Fabricate software automatically creates a ceramic layer between the part and the support. This layer eventually disintegrates in the sintering furnace, enabling support removal without tools.

Automatic alignment

By automatically aligning the components, the Fabricate software improves the print success rate, component consistency and user-friendliness at the touch of a button. Not only the printing process, but also the sintering process is analyzed by the software to improve the entire process.

Wall thickness settings

With Desktop Metal® Fabricate software, users can decide for themselves whether they prefer speed or freedom from post-processing. Users can decide between 1mm and 6mm to get parts exactly the way they want them.

Optimized sintering profiles

Based on the material, part geometry and user-defined settings, the software generates complete manufacturing profiles for printing and sintering. There is no need to weigh parts after printing, enter data into the software or manually enter machine instructions.

Leave shrinkage and warping behind during the sintering process. Live Sinter™ software from Desktop Metal® uses algorithmic functions to create a perfect offset model that automatically compensates for shrinkage and warping.

Automatic compensation of sintering shrinkage and deformation!

With its Live Sinter™ software, Desktop Metal® offers the ideal solution for compensating for shrinkage and deformation during the sintering process. Using complex algorithms, the software calculates how the component will be deformed during the sintering process before the printing process and automatically compensates for this by creating an adapted offset model.

Optimal distortion compensation

Traditionally, sacrificial structures are used to prevent sintering shrinkage and distortion. However, these are not only costly in the long term, but can also lead to other problems such as cracks or fractures in the component because they fight against shrinkage and distortion. With Desktop Metal® Live Sinter™ and the automatically created offset model, however, these dangers are eliminated because the natural process of shrinkage and warpage is no longer fought against, but instead exploited to obtain a perfect component at the end.

Interactive sintering simulation

To create an ideal off-set model, the Live Sinter™ software uses an advanced sintering simulation that is customized for each component to simulate non-linear shrinkage, friction, elastic and plastic deformations, and density variations. These simulations are designed to be interactive, allowing users to see exactly how the off-set model was created.

Automatic generation of supports

Desktop Metal®'s Live Sinter™ software offers the option of automatically generating support structures. These are optimally designed for the respective component, reducing material consumption and integrating distortion compensation.

Scan-based optimization

To minimize tolerances even further, Desktop Metal® Live Sinter™ offers the option of optimization using scan data. This helps to prevent even complex distortion effects in future parts. The scan-based adjustment affects the entire volume of the part, ensuring that thin walls and hidden interior areas move in unison with the exterior areas.
