M2 tool steel is a hardenable high-speed steel with a tungsten-molybdenum matrix, which scores particularly well for its high toughness. Due to its wear resistance and high hardness, it is mainly used for abrasive tools. Compared to other tool steels, M2 also scores with a comparatively high corrosion resistance.
